Please see important information below regarding a late addition Spinlok plug designed to fill the cavity in the lower bashguard on all Gen 3 VLT bike-MTBs.
The Spinlok plug serves two purposes,
- In the event the battery fixing bolt is not or cannot be adequately torqued to the required 8Nm by consumer, this Spinlok plug is designed to keep the bolt from unthreading and falling out.
- The plug also acts as a barrier from the elements, keeping debris from getting into the cavity and the head of the battery fixing bolt ensuring cleaner battery removal and installation.
The Spinlok plug is comprised of a thru-bolt and nut with an expanding rubber mid-section. The rubber portion expands into the cavity of the bashguard when the thru-bolt is tightened, creating a firm seal.
The nut end of the Spinlok plug is keyed to fit inside of the 6mm hex head of the battery retention bolt.
The battery retention bolt should already be installed in the bashguard of your bike with the provided lock washer. The above photos provide context, giving you a visual on how the Spinlok and bolt interact.
After confirming that the battery retention bolt is correctly torqued to the specified 8Nm with a calibrated torque wrench before every ride, install the Spinlok plug into the cavity in the bashguard, ensuring the 6mm hex head has fully engaged the broaching of the battery retention bolt.
Using a torque wrench, tighten the Spinlok plug to 3Nm.
Please contact the Norco Dealer where you purchased your VLT E-MTB to arrange a time to go in and get your Spinlok plug installed free of charge.
